The plant that origins Green Propolis
Baccharis dracunculifolia is a dioecious shrub, which means to say that it presents distinct individuals. Baccharis dracunculifolia is a species adapted to stress habitats (which have few nutrients). When the resources are restrained the plants have to pick where they should invest energy and nutrients: whether in development or in chemical defenses. Since the deficiency of nutrients restrains the development, plants with low development taxes favor the procreation of secondary compounds, and thus, have a major defense against assaults of herbivores. This plant was observed to have a slow development in a debased area. This fact favors the production of secondary compounds that are stocked in distinct cellular types, that is to say, isoprene compounds, formed by monoterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes, tetraterpenes and polyterpenes.
The botanical markers of Baccharis dracunculifolia placed at the vegetative apexes (glandular and non-glandular trichomes, and fragments of epidermis) are used to determine the botanical origin of propolis. |
