Microscopy of Honey

The studies about pollen in honey arose in the turning point of the century in Europe. In the 70's, the palynology was pretty much developed and the honey produced in almost all Europe was already characterized geographically by determining its pollen grains.

In Brazil, the pollen of Eucalyptus uses to be dominant in the samples of honey. After this kind of pollen, the ones more commonly found are Citrus, Hyptis, and also various Asteraceae, Mimosoideae, and Ribiaceae.

The different kinds of honey are characterized - by means of a microscopic analysis - as:

Monofloral honey: presents one single pollinic type
Monofloral Honey
of Eucalyptus sp.

Heterofloral honey or wild honey: presents diverse pollinic types in the plant formation of the honey.
Wild flowers honey - Pollen of Persea sp (avocado) e Baccharis sp (rosemary).
